Professor Martin Green, Chief Executive of Care England joined Rivermede Court’s General Manager, Libby Barrett, to officially open the new £8m Egham-based luxury care home which will offer exceptional residential, dementia and respite care.

The grand opening on 16 October at Rivermede Court – the 12th care home for the award-winning Cinnamon Care Collection group of luxury care homes and retirement developments – was attended by over 50 guests including Councillor Gill and other members of the local community. Four pupils from Manorcroft Primary School in Egham who won a competition to name the floors at the care home were special guests at the event, which was also attended by Cinnamon Care Collection’s Directors, Carole Hunt, Greg Swire and Declan Walsh.

All guests were invited on a tour of the premises during which they were shown luxurious en-suite bedrooms, the cinema room, hair and beauty salon, and the impressive, immaculately decorated lounge and dining room areas.

Professor Martin Green gave a speech at the event and stated, “I am delighted to be here at the start of a wonderful journey that will be so good for people in Egham. The level of detail and little extra touches throughout the building show the high level of care that is so key to what Cinnamon does. Cinnamon gives people a life, not a service, and that is central to Cinammon’s ethos. It is a privilege to see this fantastic facility and great to see that engagement with the local community has been so central from the outset.”

Libby Barrett added, “It has been a great privilege to be part of commissioning Rivermede Court. I have personally interviewed every applicant – something that is very important to me – and have recruited team members that are compassionate, caring and have a real drive to make a difference in the lives of those we support. We have had a great start to this new home, including 30 days training for all employees – which is phenomenal in this industry. Investing in our team is key to staff retention and delivering a consistent high quality service.

“I am so proud to work alongside the team here at Rivermede Court and am very excited about beginning our journey in Egham. I would like to thank the local community for welcoming and accepting us into your village.”

Rivermede Court, based on The Avenue, Egham, has 80 large, luxurious en-suite rooms and will welcome its first residents from Monday 21 October.  Rivermede Court is part of the Cinnamon Care Collection, recognised as one of the Top 20 Recommended Care Home Groups in the country by the UK’s leading care home reviews website carehome.co.uk.
