Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) is delighted to have been chosen by GB Bobsleigh’s number one team as part of #TeamGivingBack, a campaign for the 20/21 season which helps to raise awareness and to raise funds for seven UK charities.

Each team member was able to choose a charity that has personal importance to them, and KSS is very grateful to have been chosen by Olympian Greg Cackett, who first became aware of KSS’s emergency critical care service when family friends were involved in a serious accident twelve years ago.

For this World Cup season, the #TeamGivingBack blue sled features the logos of each charity, and each team member has set up a Just Giving page to help raise funds for their chosen charity.

The campaign has been made possible by the generosity of the Team’s sponsors. Ordinarily, the Team is reliant upon selling advertising space on the sled to cover its costs. For the 20/21 World Cup season, a private donor will cover the majority of these costs and, to further support the campaign, the Team’s two corporate sponsors, Altus Financial Services and Medigold Health, have kindly given up their own logo space on the sled.

Commenting, Greg Clackett said:

“I am exceptionally proud to be representing KSS as part of #TeamGivingBack.”

“In 2008, a young friend of mine lost his life far too soon in a tragic car accident. It was only him and his father in the car. His father’s life was saved by the incredible work of KSS and, ever since, the charity has held a special place in the hearts of my local community. I do whatever I can to raise awareness or funds for the charity.”

He continued:

“Charities are facing unprecedented challenges as a result of the COVID pandemic and I want to thank our unbelievably generous sponsors for making this possible. I urge everyone who can to please support our fundraising campaign.”

David Welch, KSS CEO, said:

“We are thrilled to be part of #TeamGivingBack and give our heartfelt thanks to Greg, to the team and to the generous sponsors who have enabled this wonderful initiative to take place.”

“It costs £15M each year to deliver our service, which rapidly brings pre-hospital emergency care to patients at the scene of a life-threatening accident or medical emergency. 88% of this is raised through public donations and fundraising.”

“By supporting Greg, you can help us to continue to be there 24/7 for the most critically ill and injured people across our region, helping to save lives.”

He added:

“We wish #TeamGivingBack every success on their journey to the 2022 Bejing Winter Olympics, and thank you all for thinking of KSS.”
