Wellington Vale, a luxury care home in Waterlooville has been crowned winner of the Care/Residential Home of the Year Award 2021 at the BCE Learn Awards which recognise excellence from carers across the UK. In addition, Emma Turvey, carer at Wellington Vale, won Carer of the Year Award 2021.
Wellington Vale, part of the Cinnamon Care Collection, is an exclusive 80 bedroom care home which offers exceptional residential, dementia, nursing and respite care. The award was given to Wellington Vale in recognition of its entire team going above and beyond every day to ensure that residents are safe, well cared for and living a life full of laughter and engaging activities. Its team of carers, nurses, activities co-ordinators, housekeepers, maintenance, administrators and catering staff have a shared vision of positivity, making the lives of residents stimulating and fun whilst also catering to their individual needs.
Emma Turvey was selected as Carer of the Year 2021 for being a truly selfless carer. She has volunteered to come in on her days off on many occasions throughout the year to help out with a variety of activities and fundraising initiatives at Wellington Vale, from filming for the Christmas Panto to helping at the care home’s superheroes themed Drive-Thru Macmillan Coffee Morning. She even turned up unexpectedly on Christmas Day to help hand out presents to residents.
Gaynor Rhead, General Manager at Wellington Vale said, “We are all absolutely thrilled to have won these awards – a testament to the passion, care and commitment of all of our staff. As with all care homes across the UK, the impact of Covid has been immense, however we have faced this battle together and supported each other throughout, with staff and residents becoming like one big family.
“It is a real privilege to work with such a dedicated and enthusiastic team. During Covid, everybody stepped up – we all became cleaners, activity staff and carers whenever needed and we helped each other through unprecedented times. Throughout, we have not only kept our standards and our spirits high but we have continued to evolve, ensuring that residents don’t just live life but love life.”
Carole Hunt, Director, Cinnamon Care Collection adds, “This is fantastic news and thoroughly deserved. The team at Wellington Vale are outstanding – they truly represent the values of being fun, caring and committed which are so important across all Cinnamon care homes. They go above and beyond on a daily basis and I am very proud that their dedication has been recognised through these awards.”
The Cinnamon Care Collection, which owns and operates Wellington Vale, has also been named a Top 20 Mid-Sized Care Home Group by carehome.co.uk, for the last four consecutive years.
