MaryAnne Stevens, Chair of Watts Gallery Trust, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Michaela MacIntyre and Matt Holt as our new Trustees of Watts Gallery Trust. Both bring important skills and extensive experience in many fields which are directly relevant to Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village, both are local residents yet have worked in national and international spheres, and both have been deeply committed to the Watts for many years. Watts Gallery Trust will be enriched and strengthened by their presence.”

Michaela Macintyre said:

“I am thrilled to have joined the Board of Trustees of Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village. The Watts is such a special place to have right here in the heart of Surrey. Steeped in history and story, the unique gallery, Chapel, and buildings set in picturesque Compton have been an oasis of inspiration, education, and engagement with art for folks of all backgrounds for almost 120 years. I am honoured to support the Watts team and my fellow Trustees as we continue to drive forward G F & Mary Watts’ vision and ethos of ‘Art for All’, further build the reputation of The Watts around the world, and maintain the rich relationship the gallery has with its thriving local community.”

Matt Holt said:

“I’m delighted to be joining the Board of Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village. The team at Watts have created a cultural gem in the Surrey Hills, offering something for everyone – multiple galleries, a historic artists’ residence, artist studios, a welcoming cafe, shop, beautiful grounds and much more.”

“Most crucially for me though, the organisation is committed to ongoing community outreach. The Art for All community learning programme works with schools, prisons and many different vulnerable groups throughout the year.”

“There is much more to be done to ensure that an arts organisation like Watts can have a positive impact on the full breadth of our community. However, I’m impressed by the leadership team’s commitment to this goal, and to telling the stories that are needed to ensure an arts hub like the Watts can truly be for all. I look forward to supporting them in this aim.”

Watts Gallery Trust is seeking applications for three further Trustee positions on its Board. The three roles are Chair of Watts Gallery Trading Company, Education and Learning trustee and a trustee to act as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and Buildings Committee. Each role will be critical to the strategic direction of Watts Gallery Trust and help support our charitable mission of Art for All by All. The deadline for application is 5pm on Wednesday 19 October 2022. For further information and to apply: wattsgallery.org.uk/about-us/careers/
