Investec International Music Festival (IIMF) is delighted to announce that tickets are now on sale for its rescheduled dates in September 2021.
Each year, IIMF brings world-class musicians to perform in beautiful locations across the Surrey Hills, and the Festival is thrilled to be able to introduce its audience to two particularly special new venues this year:
The Garden Room at RHS Hilltop
RHS Hilltop is a spectacular new building located within RHS Garden Wisley and is the UK’s first dedicated horticultural scientific centre of excellence (official opening 24 June 2021). This new space includes the beautifully light and spacious Garden Room – the perfect setting for a performance of Astor Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires led by renowned international violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky in celebration of the composer’s 100th anniversary – superstar saxophonist Jess Gillam also features in this Festival Finale programme performing works by Piazzolla, Kurt Weill and others.
The Stone Hall & Place Farm Barn at West Horsley Place
IIMF is delighted to be holding concerts in two beautiful spaces on the West Horsley Place estate. Acclaimed lute and theorbo player Paula Chateauneuf will give a recital in the elegant Stone Hall of the Grade I listed mediaeval manor house – a room in which Henry VIII is known to have dined – and in the newly refurbished Place Farm Barn, Festival Director Wu Qian and the Finnish virtuoso Juho Pohjonen will perform a programme of piano duets. The opening of Place Farm Barn this summer is an important milestone in the journey for West Horsley Place to become a welcoming space for cultural and community events.
Other venues this season include the picturesque hilltop church of St Martha’s high up on the old Pilgrims’ Way just outside Guildford (Pilgrims’ Guided Walk and Lunchtime Concert on 22 September) and the glorious Georgian Holy Trinity Church on Guildford’s historic cobbled High Street (The Tallis Scholars on 18 September).
